imap.wippies.com does not seem to accept my wippies login and password when trying to access it with mail readers. Also SMTP sending does not seem to work. Webmail works. Hopefully this will be fixed soon:)

Also SMTP sending does not seem to work.

SMTP usually accepts connections only from its local network. Are you trying to access SMTP directly via some other operator? If so, you may have to use the SMTP service of that operator instead.

Sorry, here are the instructions: http://www.wippies.com/support_mail.phtml
It should be possible from anywhere (local firewall permitting); "requires user authentication – that is, the same usernames and passwords as the POP3 server".

Still doesn't work. IMAP error is 'Invalid login credentials' and SMTP error (from smtp.wippies.com) 'Bad authentication response from server.' when using the working Webmail account info for login.

using the working Webmail account info for login

Still from the instructions, have you noticed this?

You can use your mailbox username as an e-mail account name in the e-mail program.

You can logon WebMail with your e-mail address and password.

Using t-om for IMAP and SMTP, same password as for the working webmail account t-om@wippies.fi. Not working.

Changed login into t-om@wippies.fi also for IMAP and SMTP, and now everything works.

Thanks for your replies.

Interesting... Those instructions do not tell to use the long form everywhere...

Well, one would guess thats the way it's supposed to work.

Or would you mind telling me what would you expect to see in a situation where t-om@wippies.fi and t-om@wippies.com exist and are different users and someone tries to login with the user t-om ?

As far as I know, they can't be different users and the domain choice doesn't mean much.
