Homebox - Local Settings
Opening the local settings page.
To access the Homebox local settings setup go to address http://192.168.0.1/
If you cannot access the page make sure you have set settings as described here: static IP-address settings.
General Information screen
From the general information page you can see device information.
The following information is available in software version Sauna-19.
- MAC Address
- Serial Number
- Public IP
Page refreshes every 5 seconds.
Settings Setup (ADSL settings)
To enter the settings setup, click Setup on the General Information screen. On the settings page you can change settings considering your connection to your internet provider. These settings change options the Homebox uses to make an internet connection. Ask your internet service provider or your network support person for correct settings.
After you have changed a setting, you have to press Apply button to start using new settings. You can press Cancel button to discard your changes and return to the General Information page. After you press Apply it will take some time for changed settings to take effect.
ADSL Mode setting
ADSL mode setting changes the modulation type in use for connecting the ADSL-link.
Bridged ADSL connection with NAT
- Used "Use PPP" setting:
- Use PPP : No
When Homebox is set to "Use PPP: No" setting, Homebox will make Network Address Translation to all the IP-addresses connected to the LAN side of the Homebox.
DHCP-server is active in Homebox. If computer is set to acquire IP-address automatically, Homebox will offer addresses in the range 192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.59 (Homebox grey).
You can set the Homebox WAN IP-address manually by selecting Use the following IP address: and entering IP address information to the fields below the selection.
PPPoE or PPPoA ADSL connection
- Used "Use PPP" setting:
- Use PPP : PPPoE
- OR
- Use PPP : PPPoA
If your ADSL internet service provider uses PPPoE or PPPoA, you can set your PPP username to the Login field and password to the Password field.
You can set the Homebox WAN IP-address manually by selecting Use the following IP address: and entering IP address information to the fields below the selection.
Bridged ADSL connection
- Used "Use PPP" setting:
- Use PPP : Bridged IP
With this setting all the traffic coming from your ADSL internet service provider will be bridged to computers connected to WippiesHome LAN network. Homebox will reserve one WAN IP-address for itself.
DHCP-server in Homebox is disabled. Homebox will not offer any IP-addresses to the computers connected to WippiesHome LAN or WLAN.
If you want Homebox to use NAT-for connecting computers to the internet, you can set your computer network gateway IP-address to 192.168.0.1.
You can set the Homebox WAN IP address manually by selecting Use the following IP address: and entering IP address information to the fields below se selection.
Ethernet uplink to internet with NAT
- Used "Use PPP" setting:
- Use PPP : Ethernet Uplink
Usually this setting is used if you want to connect the Homebox after a another modem or router. With this setting Homebox will not use the ADSL to make internet connection.
When you enable the Ethernet Uplink setting, the LAN1-port (LAN4 in Homebox black) will become the WAN-port of the Homebox. Modem or router offering the internet connection has to be connected to the WAN port of the Homebox.
DHCP-server is active in Homebox. If computer is set to acquire IP-address automatically, Homebox will offer IP-addresses in the range 192.168.0.10 - 192.168.0.59 (Homebox grey).
With Ethernet Uplink you can also set Homebox WAN IP-address settings manually.
Successfull connection settings
Here's an example image of the General Information page showing that the Homebox has acquired an IP-address from the internet provider in Bridged IP mode.
Firmware Update application
You can upload new firmware file to the device from this page. Select browse to find the correct file and press Update to start uploading the file to Homebox. Pressing Cancel will return you to the General Information page.
You can access the Firmware Update application page from the General information page. Firmware Update application is available in firmware versions Sauna-19, and above.
Notes
- If you cannot open the local settings page, check that your computer is connected to the WippiesHome LAN area.
- Your computers are part of the WippiesHome LAN area when you connect them to the LAN ports of the Homebox. Devices connected to the WippiesHome WLAN are also part of the WippiesHome LAN area.
- Homebox cannot use WAN-addresses in the ranges 192.168.0.0/24 or 192.168.1.0/24. Instructions to change the address ranges.
- If the ADSL SYNC (DSL in Homebox black)-light is lit steady, but Homebox cannot get IP-address (and Internet light in Homebox black is not lit.)
- Check that the VPI and VCI settings are correct for your ADSL-connection.
